Job Description:

About the role

The main purpose of this position is to conduct outstanding research and teaching within the fields of pharmacology, neuroscience, and physiology. We are particularly interested in applications from researchers working in new therapeutic modalities such as targeted protein degraders, protein-protein interaction disruptors, therapeutic antibodies, or de novo protein design. Applicants with expertise at the cellular and molecular levels or in areas aligned with our strategic priorities of engineering biology and artificial intelligence are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate may also become an active member of the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology (ISMB), which promotes molecular-level research, and may benefit from core facilities at UCL including biophysics, high-throughput screening, and mass spectrometry.

Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in Neuroscience, Physiology, and Pharmacology is a key component of this role.

About you

You must hold a PhD in neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, or a related field, demonstrating research and teaching excellence and a vision to develop an internationally competitive research program.

You should have the ability to attract research funding from sources like Research Councils and charities to support your research and laboratory development. Successful applicants will have access to UCL's externally-funded doctoral training schemes.

You are expected to lead interdisciplinary research, have enthusiasm for teaching, and aim to make a positive impact within the UCL academic community.
