About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer with strong expertise in Block Functional Diagrams (BFDs) to join our innovative engineering team. You will be at the forefront of designing advanced electrical systems for bespoke overhead cranes and lifting solutions across the manufacturing, warehousing, and construction sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to lead projects from concept to completion, ensuring designs meet operational, safety, and compliance standards while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Produce detailed electrical designs, including schematics, layout drawings, cable schedules, and BFDs for crane control systems. Act as the technical lead on projects, ensuring compliance with all regulations and client requirements. Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and production teams to deliver seamless integrated solutions. Specify and select electrical components such as control panels, drives, PLCs, motors, sensors, and cable systems. Develop and maintain best practices, design standards, and technical documentation. Provide technical support to production and installation teams during build and commissioning phases. Skills & Experience Required Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Expert-level knowledge of BFDs and their use in control systems. Strong understanding of control panel design, motor control, and safety systems. Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical (or similar CAD software). Familiar with UK/EU electrical standards (e.g., BS EN 60204, Machinery Directive ). Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Desirable Experience Previous exposure to crane systems, hoists, or heavy machinery. Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.). Experience with 3-phase power distribution and variable speed drives (VSDs).
