Location: Baglan, South Wales (with occasional travel to London and other offices)

The Role
We’re looking for a Junior ECI Technician who is eager to learn, grow, and support the safe and reliable operation of a hydrogen production facility in Baglan.
This position would suit someone with a strong electrical and instrumentation foundation and some hands-on experience in an industrial or production environment, perhaps from a technician or field engineering background, who wants to develop their skills within the rapidly growing clean energy sector.
No prior hydrogen experience is required. What’s most important is enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
You’ll receive structured training, mentoring, and hands-on exposure to develop your skills and build expertise in hydrogen production technologies, working alongside experienced engineers and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
As your confidence grows, you will support activities including:
* Assisting with the safe operation and maintenance of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems
* Supporting a strong safety-first culture across the facility
* Helping maintain and troubleshoot equipment including electrolysers, gas compression, and water treatment systems (training provided)
* Supporting hydrogen quality checks to ensure specifications are met
* Assisting with instrument calibration and maintenance
* Working with engineering colleagues on continuous improvement initiatives
* Using lean principles to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement
* Reviewing KPIs and plant performance data to support decision-making and root cause analysis
* Supporting the use of digital monitoring tools and modern plant technologies
* Assisting with maintenance shutdowns and Permit-to-Work processes
* Collaborating with engineering, operations, and other teams
* Occasional travel to London or other company locations
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for someone with:
* A Level 3 technical qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ, or BTEC) in Electrical & Instrumentation or a related discipline
* Practical experience in a production, industrial, or field-based environment
* Exposure to mechanical and electrical systems
* Interest in continuous improvement and lean principles
* Experience using KPIs or performance data
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability
* Understanding of industrial health, safety, and quality practices
* Willingness to undertake further training (e.g., CompEx / ATEX)
* Based in South Wales with flexibility to travel when required
Desirable (Not Essential)
* Experience with PLC or SCADA systems
* Familiarity with digital monitoring platforms or Industry 4.0 technologies
* Participation in process improvement or optimisation projects
