Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner/ODP

The successful candidate will be expected to organise and oversee the day‑to‑day delivery of anaesthetic and theatre service. They will work autonomously to provide high standards of patient care and will be available Monday to Sunday, participating in the on‑call rota. The selected candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and capable of working within high‑pressure environments.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for organising and delivering nursing care in the peri‑operative setting. They will lead a team of ODP/anaesthetic nurses and Healthcare assistants, working with the specialty team leader and surgical team to develop and maintain excellence in peri‑operative care. They will assist the nursing team when required.
Job Summary
* Act as a team leader to an identified group of staff, monitoring and documenting their clinical skill development.
* Contribute to the smooth running of the theatre.
* Establish, lead and maintain a high standard of pre/peri and postoperative care.
* Contribute positively to the delivery of a cost‑effective service by adjusting staffing levels to meet demand and assisting the clinical coordinators to stay within agreed resources.

Person Specification
Experience
* Band 6
* Degree level education, experience in working in CR, Ortho, ENT, Urology & Ophthalmology, practitioner assessor and practitioner supervisor, anaesthetic course.
* Performance appraisal skills, experience of audit/research‑based nursing practice, experience of resource management, experience of clinical supervision.
Teaching experience
* Five years of teaching experience.
* Management and/or leadership qualifications or equivalent experience.

Salary: £45,953 to £54,254 per annum inclusive of HCAS pro rata.
