Therapy Assistant
Band 3
This is an opportunity to work alongside registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists to deliver high-quality clinical care, supporting patients recovering from acute injury or illness. The role involves helping patients achieve functional independence and facilitating discharge, sometimes working independently under guidance and other times collaboratively as cases require.
The posts are based within the Acute Therapy Team, working across all ward and treatment areas within medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, and elderly care, including the Intensive Treatment Unit and occasional home visits.

The post holder will assist physiotherapists and occupational therapists in delivering care to adults referred to the acute inpatient team. The role involves working with adults with various acute or long-term medical conditions or disabilities, often with complex needs and social challenges.
The post involves working in different ward and gym areas and often independently without direct supervision, taking responsibility for an agreed caseload. Tasks include a range of non-clinical duties such as administrative tasks for outpatients and ordering clinical equipment as delegated.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage own caseload of patients, using clinical judgment within competencies.
2. Conduct initial interviews and ongoing treatment for patients, including mobility and dressing assistance.
3. Arrange assessment home visits in collaboration with qualified therapists, conducting follow-ups independently based on case complexity.
4. Assist in maintaining therapy equipment and ensure cleanliness.
5. Keep therapy areas tidy and organized.
6. Support clerical duties such as answering calls, processing referrals, and scheduling appointments.
