Delivery Project Manager – Rheinmetall


What We Are Looking For

The Delivery Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers during the serial production and delivery phase, ensuring that customer call‑off orders are effectively managed and fulfilled. This role is critical for post‑sale stakeholder management and is directly accountable for the benefits realisation of production contracts by coordinating with internal operational functions to meet customer demand on time and to specification. The role provides essential assurance of contract deliverables through diligent tracking and communication, and also supports customers in accessing the in‑service support function.


Responsibilities & Tasks


Customer & Stakeholder Management

* Act as primary professional point of contact for customer communications regarding existing production contracts and call‑off orders.
* Manage customer expectations regarding delivery schedules, providing regular, clear, and accurate updates.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders (Operations, Procurement, Planning, Production, Quality, Logistics) to ensure a coordinated and transparent delivery process.
* Organise and lead customer meetings for delivery review.
* Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBR) with customers to ensure alignment with their needs.
* Attend tier meetings daily to align delivery across operations and wider business activities.


Order & Delivery Coordination

* Receive and process customer call‑off orders, ensuring all required commercial and technical information is complete.
* Collaborate directly with the Project Controller to ensure customer demand and delivery dates are accurately reflected in the ERP system (SAP B1).
* Track the progress of orders through the internal production lifecycle, from procurement to shipping.
* Identify and escale potential delivery delays or issues to the Head of Programmes, aligning with risk management principles.
* Maintain order book management to keep a master delivery schedule and order tracker for visibility across the PMO and Operations teams.


In‑Service Support & RMA Coordination

* Act as initial point of contact for customers requesting warranty support or raising paid repairs (RMAs).
* Gather necessary information from the customer to initiate the formal RMA process.
* Ensure a smooth and documented handover of the case to the dedicated In‑Service Support Team, maintaining clear project governance.
* Plan, manage and coordinate any large‑scale rework or upgrade programmes.


Project Support & Reporting

* Maintain all relevant project documentation for the delivery phase, including customer communications, order confirmations, and shipping documents across a structured library.
* Provide regular status updates and reports on order fulfilment and customer satisfaction to the Head of Programmes.
* Support the PMO in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the order‑to‑delivery cycle.
* Own the delivery phase project budget, including forecast of revenues & costs, capture of actuals and budget reporting.


What Qualifications You Should Have


Essential

* Demonstrable experience in a customer‑facing coordination role within a technical, engineering, or manufacturing environment (e.g., Customer Service Representative or Account Management experience).
* Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks with high attention to detail.
* Experience using an ERP system for order processing and resource planning (e.g., SAP B1 or similar).
* High proficiency in the MS 365 suite for data management and communication, and MS Project/Excel for tracking.
* Foundational understanding of the project lifecycle and project management principles, aligned with the APM Body of Knowledge.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical and logistical information clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.


Desirable

* Experience in the defence or another highly regulated industry.
* APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) or equivalent.
* Experience in creating reports or dashboards.
* Basic understanding of commercial contracts and in‑service support agreements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

* On‑Time Delivery (OTD): Percentage of call‑off order lines delivered by the acknowledged date.
* Customer Satisfaction (CSAT): Measured via periodic feedback or surveys.
* Order Processing Timeliness: Time from customer call‑off receipt to confirmed entry in SAP B1.
* RMA Initiation Accuracy: Percentage of RMA requests handed over to the In‑Service Support Team with all required information complete the first time.


Additional Information

Due to our pre‑employment checks, we require applicants to have lived in the UK for at least 5 years.
