Part time (23 hours per week) flexible over 7 days including weekends, bank holidays and nights to cover a 24 hour service.
D1 £31,168.36 to £38,129.42 - pro rata for part time hours (plus enhancements where applicable).
The Staff Nurse reports into the Inpatient Unit Sister/Charge Nurse and is responsible for providing care to patients within our Inpatient Unit (IPU).
The Staff Nurse will deliver expert, compassionate, and individualised nursing care to patients with life-limiting illnesses. The role involves managing and coordinating the clinical care of patients, ensuring their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met with dignity and respect. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing patient conditions, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications, and providing symptom management. Additionally, the Staff Nurse offers support and guidance to patients\' families, helping them navigate the complexities of end-of-life care. By working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, the Staff Nurse ensures the highest standard of care, enhancing the quality of life for patients and those important to them.
Responsibilities
* Provide care to patients within the Inpatient Unit (IPU).
* Assess patient conditions, develop and implement care plans, administer medications, and provide symptom management.
* Deliver expert, compassionate, and individualized nursing care for patients with life-limiting illnesses.
* Support and guide patients\' families, helping them navigate end-of-life care.
* Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high standards of care and quality of life for patients and their families.
Qualifications
* Willingness to undertake required study
* Principles and practice of palliative care or equivalent
* Preparation of Mentors or equivalent
Knowledge and experience
* Experience of working in a healthcare or care environment with palliative care
* Demonstrated experience in delivering palliative care, including symptom management, pain relief, and end-of-life care
* Proven ability to administer and manage medications, including controlled drugs, safely and effectively
* Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with other healthcare professionals
* Proficiency in maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring documentation meets legal and organizational standards
* Experience of using SystmOne or similar systems
* Previous experience of working within a specialist palliative setting
* Understanding of clinical governance and compliance

Professional Development
All staff complete a comprehensive induction programme which includes statutory and mandatory e-learning as well as training tailored to the individual\'s need.
