Business Development Manager 6 Highways

Hybrid working

Telent Technology Services Limited is a leading technology company specializing in the design, build, operation, and maintenance of the UK's critical digital infrastructure, drawing on decades of experience in mission-critical communications and technology.

As the Business Development Manager 6 Highways, you will report to the Business Development Director, Highways and be responsible for achieving new orders to meet targets within Telent's Highways business. Your focus will be on business development and opportunity qualification activities to support growth through contract renewals and new customer acquisition. You will lead virtual teams to achieve strategic objectives, own an account plan, and contribute to the Highways business strategy by identifying markets, target contracts, and customers to provide value-added, differentiated solutions for profitable growth.

The role involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to secure new multi-million-pound contracts from new customers and maintain relationships with existing clients.

You will be responsible for:

* Maintaining and developing Telent's sales relationships with existing customers and establishing new ones
* Developing an opportunity pipeline supporting growth aspirations
* Achieving profitable orders from both new and existing customers
* Contributing to proposals, presentations, bid submissions, and marketing communications
* Keeping CRM system up to date with account, contact, and opportunity details
* Directing marketing activities in collaboration with the marketing department
* Maintaining and improving customer satisfaction scores

The role requires demonstrable experience and a proven track record in managing key customer relationships in the Highways sector, achieving sales targets, and supporting sales and business development strategies.

Through delivering high levels of customer service and securing profitable new business, you will help strengthen Telent's position in the UK Highways Sector.

Typical deliverables for the role:

* Ownership and development of profitable new business opportunities
* Promoting solutions-based sales that benefit customers
* Collaborating with bidding and technical teams to develop and close sales opportunities
* Managing and providing accurate monthly order forecasts
* Analyzing the marketplace and competitor positions
* Formulating effective win-themes and sales strategies
* Enhancing the quality of proposals to customers
* Ensuring smooth handover of orders between sales and operations
* Adhering to sales and bidding procedures
* Providing market feedback to engineering teams

Business Operations Skills & Experience:

* Minimum 10 years of sales/business development experience with established contacts in the Highways market
* Experience in defining target markets and strategic planning
* Proficiency in writing and reviewing tender responses

Qualifications:

* Engineering background or higher qualification (HNC or above)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with cloud CRM systems
* Full, clean driving license
* Financial literacy in creating and interpreting financial reports and models

Behavioral Requirements:

* Customer-focused with excellent communication and presentation skills
* Leadership ability to lead virtual teams
* Personable, with good interpersonal skills
* Accountable and proactive in exceeding targets
