About the Role
A dynamic and growing construction contractor delivering high‑quality projects across residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors is seeking a Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team.
The business operates across a wide range of specialist construction services, including brickwork, blockwork, stonework, SFS (steel frame systems), reinforced concrete, scaffolding, steel and architectural metalwork, bespoke balcony systems, and fire remediation works.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in preparing cost estimates, tender returns, and project budgets.

Support subcontract procurement, including tender analysis and package coordination.
*
Conduct measurements and valuations of work on site.
*
Help prepare interim applications for payment and final accounts.
*
Monitor project expenditure and report on financial progress.
*
Keep accurate records of variations, correspondence, and site instructions.
*
Attend site meetings and liaise with internal and external project teams.
*
Contribute to value engineering and risk management discussions.
*
Ensure contractual compliance and assist in enforcing quality and safety standards.
Requirements
*
A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction-related discipline.
*
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
*
Attention to detail with strong organizational abilities.
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with software such as Bluebeam or CostX is a plus.
*
Basic understanding of standard construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
*
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and pursue professional accreditation (e.g., RICS APC).
Desirable
*
Prior experience through internships, placements, or part-time roles in construction or surveying.
*
Awareness of specialist construction elements such as structural frames, cladding systems, or fire remediation.
*
Interest in cost control, quality assurance, and health & safety within construction environments.
