At Leonardo, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer, working in the field of Infra-Red Sensors used by NASA, ESA, and various Defence Programmes.
This role involves working across the entire Engineering lifecycle, including concept design, development model builds, production support, and beyond.
The IR Detectors Team is based at our Southampton facility, offering a mix of on-site and remote working options.
All Mechanical Engineering team members are encouraged to develop their technical skills in areas such as structural, thermal, and model-driven engineering.
Key Responsibility Areas
* Ensure compliance of Mechanical Engineering solutions throughout the Engineering Lifecycle, considering product quality, safety, reliability, etc.
* Research and develop mechanical solutions and techniques for next-generation IR Detectors.
* Support the Programme Team in delivering technical solutions for Mechanical Engineering aspects.
* Create Mechanical designs following industry standards.
* Design and develop using 3D CAD tools.
* Participate in practical implementation of development builds and Design of Experiments.
* Support Procurement and Manufacturing during new product introduction into the development/production phases.

Experience in:
