We are seeking experienced Residential Childcare Support Workers passionate about making a positive and lasting difference to young people, willing to undertake relevant training and qualifications.
Our aim is to help young people develop insight into their experiences, enabling them to move on from their often damaged, traumatic past. We support them by providing clear, safe boundaries and achievable goals, using positive reinforcement strategies such as reward charts and free time.
Central to our work is providing a nurturing environment that meets all the basic needs of the young person to the highest standard, including a warm, friendly atmosphere that fosters supportive relationships and positive attachments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Create a caring, motivating environment tailored to individual developmental needs, helping young people reach their full potential.
* Plan and prepare activities that meet young people's needs, stimulating their learning and integration within the home.
* Stay informed of legislation, guidelines, policies, Children's Act, children's home regulations, and national minimum standards; be aware of all Ofsted guidance regarding the home.
* Observe and assess young people's progress, maintain accurate records of achievements, behavior, and significant events, and produce/update life books for those in your keyworking responsibilities.
* Work with local authorities/placing authorities to ensure outstanding care for young people.
* Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers to support young people's learning and development, valuing parental involvement where appropriate.
* Be flexible within the home’s working practices, including undertaking domestic tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, and shopping.
* Collaborate with the Manager and staff team to fulfill the home's philosophy.
* Keep clear, legible records regarding young people, ensuring entries are well-expressed, factual, non-stigmatizing, and distinguish between fact, opinion, and third-party information.
Essential Skills:
* Experience working with teenage boys or challenging behavior; willingness to develop further skills.
* Hold a valid driving license and have access to a vehicle; public transport may not be viable due to rural location.
* Possess or be willing to work towards Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or equivalent.
* Willingness to engage young people in activities and support them towards independence and adulthood.
* Flexibility with working hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and shift work, with every other weekend off.
* Ability to challenge unacceptable behavior, set firm boundaries, and provide individualized care.
* Ability to work as part of a team, follow delegated tasks, and maintain policies and procedures.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and listen.
Benefits include company pension, access to employee discounts, wellbeing programs, promotion opportunities, and fully funded training for recognized qualifications.
If you are motivated to create a caring and stimulating environment for young people, we want to hear from you.
