Overview North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated locum consultant gastroenterologist to join our multidisciplinary team of gastroenterologists and gastrointestinal surgeons. The role is part of a new, integrated digestive disease service that includes endoscopy, upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, colorectal and emergency gastro‑intestinal surgery across North Cumbria.
Main duties of the job Provide clinical care in the acute and elective settings, submit documentation for the GMC Portfolio Pathway within 18 months of start date, and contribute across all aspects of the general gastroenterology service.
Qualifications and training
Full GMC registration
MRCP (UK)
Within 6 months of completion of CCT or within 18 months of submitting a CESR portfolio
Postgraduate qualification in gastroenterology (MRCP Gastro, MD, PhD or equivalent)
Skills and Experience
Clinical experience and competence in gastroenterology
Ability to provide therapeutic endoscopy for GI bleeding
Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers and other staff
Full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Sub‑specialty expertise in gastroenterology or endoscopy
Clinical Governance
Experience in Clinical Governance
Experience of audit

Professional requirements
