About the Role As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of complex projects across the full project lifecycle-from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, construction, and commissioning. You will be involved in a wide range of projects, including energy from waste, solar, wind farms, interconnectors, substations, overhead lines, LVAC systems, pump stations, and broader infrastructure schemes. In more senior roles, you will take ownership of electrical design delivery, leading on systems such as generators, control and instrumentation, protection systems, substations, and transmission infrastructure. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate closely with civil, mechanical, and other engineering teams to develop integrated and effective design solutions. You will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers, supporting the continued growth and capability of the team. Your Impact In this role, you will play a key part in delivering electrical engineering solutions that support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of energy infrastructure. Your work will directly contribute to projects that are critical to meeting the UK's growing energy needs while supporting the transition to lower-carbon systems. By applying your technical expertise across all stages of project delivery, you will help ensure solutions are innovative, compliant, and fit for purpose. Your involvement in design, modelling, and analysis will support robust decision-making and high-quality engineering outcomes. Through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, you will help drive integrated design approaches that improve efficiency and reduce risk. In more senior positions, your leadership and mentorship will help develop team capability and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Ultimately, your contribution will support the delivery of sustainable infrastructure, helping clients navigate industry challenges and achieve long-term environmental and operational goals. About You You are a motivated and technically capable Electrical Engineer with experience working on HV and EHV systems within the UK regulatory environment. You are passionate about contributing to meaningful projects and enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. You will bring: Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET (preferred) Experience working within the energy sector, or related sectors such as water or built environment Strong capability in producing and interpreting electrical design documentation, including single line diagrams, key line diagrams, block cable diagrams, load schedules, and technical specifications Experience undertaking electrical calculations, including equipment sizing and fault level analysis Familiarity with UK standards, regulations, and design practices Confidence in presenting technical information and participating in design reviews and technical workshops Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively across teams and with clients Most importantly, you bring a client-focused approach and a commitment to collaboration, service excellence, and designing with community in mind-values that underpin everything we do.
