Overview

Project Manager/Engineer – with Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Experience — under the direction of the Operations Leader for Power Transmission Products, with overall responsibility for the execution of GIS Projects in the UK.


Responsibilities

* GIS Project Management: Management of large prestige GIS projects for the PT PRODUCT business.
* Project booking, including Contract analysis, preparation of Project Plan, Setting up the EAS, Placing Sub-Contract Orders.
* Project Commercial Execution (mainly following NEC3 T&C) for Early Warning Notices (EWN), Compensation Events (CE), clause by clause Contract Management and resolving of disputes during each phase of the project.
* Management of all Customer and Supplier Interactions to deliver GIS Projects. Follow customer-specific software and portals for document controls, communication and TQs, commercial management, etc.
* Management of customer Variation Requests and Change Orders.
* Carry out all contractual activities from receipt of Purchase Order until all contractual obligations are complete, with ongoing oversight to end of Warranty.
* Carry out weekly progress activities, including update to the billing and sales forecast.
* Conduct quarterly formal Project Review Meetings, covering Risk and Opportunity and Budget Deviations. Develop and implement mitigations and update PPM with revisions to the Project Commercial Plan.
* Preserve GE's rights and entitlements as provided in the Contract. Ensure proper notices are given in line with contract requirements. Manage claims to/from customers and other third parties and partners.
* Support Customs Clearance for delivered goods, and the re-exportation of Tools and Test Kit to be returned to factory on completion of site works.
* Be responsible for local content, such as Site Installation and Commissioning, and/or Supervision of GIS installation works on site after delivery of the equipment, using internal and external sub-contract resources.
* Support the Site Manager and/or Site Supervisor during installation and commissioning tests to ensure program and costs are maintained for effective handover to the Customer on completion.
* Ensure all work is conducted in line with GE Vernova’s compliance rules, operational policies, financial controls and quality assurance, and the highest standards of H&S on all projects.


GIS Engineering

* Provide GIS Engineering Support and Product knowledge to the Customer and supplying units, relevant to UK Customer requirements and specifications.
* Follow the design phase from project start to design freeze. GIS substations are bespoke solutions requiring project-specific Primary Equipment design and LV Solution.
* Ideally, understand GIS Engineering and GIS Design to ensure alignment at the design stage, respecting Customer requirements and the manufacturing unit.
* Coordinate between Customer, Installation Contractor and Factory regarding Installation & Commissioning documentation, including Instruction Manuals, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, Site Acceptance Test Plans and Process for correct and safe GIS build on site.
* Have knowledge and input into customer CDM Hazard Reviews to assess GIS Design, and contribute to Risk and Method Statements (RAMS) for Installation of GIS Equipment at Site, supported by Construction and Field Service Manager.


Quality

* Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes in relevant tools on site.
* Report or resolve non-conformities in a timely manner.
* Ensure suppliers are contractually informed of EHS requirements and back-to-back requirements.


Health and Safety

* Demonstrate commitment to safety through participation in formal and informal discussions.
* Adhere to all safe working procedures in accordance with instructions.
* Ensure safety work instructions are complied with.
* Participate in the resolution of safety issues.
* Initiate actions to improve health and safety where needed.


Performance Measurement

* Objectives, targets and performance measurements are defined on a yearly basis in line with the published business objectives and Operational Leaders’ objectives.
* Targets related to contract analysis, contract management, claims management, risk and opportunity identification and any commercial action plan.


Authority

* Access to all documentation related to the concerned projects.
* Access to Operational Leaders, other Project Managers, Financial Controllers, Construction and Field Service Leader, Site Managers & Supervisors, Sourcing & Procurement, Quality and EHS members as required. Access to relevant databases and tools.
* To access and update all Project Management software and tools (PPM, SAP, Salesforce.com, ServiceMax, etc.).
* To serve notices to GE Vernova Customers, Partners and Insurances in consultation with legal support and Operational Leaders.
* Authority to escalate any disagreement with the Operational Leaders regarding contractual issues via Line Management.


General Qualifications

* University bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Power Engineering.
* Masters in Engineering in a subject allied to High Voltage Substation Engineering.
* Min. 5 years experience in Project Engineering or Project Management in allied industries, such as Power Engineering, delivering HV Substation projects or design engineering of HV Switchgear, or customer segments relating to Transmission & Distribution of Electricity.
* Experience in Design or Delivery of High Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) projects, with preferable exposure to Site Construction.
* Experience working with UK Customers such as TSO’s, DNO’s, Utilities, EPC Contractors, HV Switchgear Manufacturers.
* Understanding of Contract Law basics with NEC3 experience would be an advantage.
* Experience in high-level negotiations would be an advantage.
* Skills: Communication, Time Management, Influencing, Intercultural and Analytical.
* Experience in project risk management and risk mitigation.
* Fluency in written and spoken English.
