We are seeking a skilled and reliable Design and Technology Technician to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Bexley. This is a part-time role for 7 hours per week, which can be worked as one full day or two mornings, offering flexibility for the right candidate.
The successful Design and Technology Technician will work closely with the Design and Technology teacher, supporting practical lessons through the preparation of materials, maintenance of equipment, and ensuring a safe and well-organised working environment. This role is ideal for someone with prior school-based experience or relevant industry experience who is keen to support young people’s learning.
We are particularly interested in appointing a Design and Technology Technician who brings strong design and technology skills and qualities that can positively support and inspire students during practical work.
Pay: £120–£150 per day (dependent on experience)
Key responsibilities include:
1. Preparing, cutting, and organising materials for lessons
2. Cleaning, servicing, and maintaining vices, tools, and equipment
3. Supporting teaching staff and pupils during practical lessons
4. Maintaining stock levels of materials and equipment
5. Assisting staff with the preparation of examination coursework
6. Ensuring Health and Safety procedures are followed at all times and acting as a departmental representative where required
7. Supporting the safe conduct and supervision of students within the department
8. Providing general assistance to departmental staff as needed
9. Taking responsibility for personal professional development in line with school procedures
10. Complying fully with health and safety responsibilities in the workplace
