About The Programme
This 4‑year apprenticeship starts at Devonport Royal Dockyard, where you’ll support the Royal Navy’s fleet while gaining practical engineering knowledge.
The apprenticeship is primarily office‑based but includes regular visits to ships, submarines, and workshops. You will analyse engineering drawings, review specifications, and apply problem‑solving skills to improve efficiency and safety.
Throughout the programme you will be supported by mentors, line managers and the Emerging Talent team. You will study for the Level 3 Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard through City College Plymouth.
Future Prospects
Upon completion you will be a fully qualified Engineering Support Technician. You will be expected to stay within this role for three years to consolidate your skills before applying for other roles. Your programme completion salary will exceed £36,000.
What You’ll Need
* A minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including Maths, English and a Science or Technology subject.
* Valid passport or provisional/full UK driving licence for access to Devonport Dockyard.
* Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) clearance.
