Legal Secretary – Commercial Property Team
Location: Lewes
Salary: up to £30k (DOE)

My client is a well-established and highly respected law firm with offices in Lewes, Sussex and central London, advising a broad and loyal client base across five principal practice areas: Residential Property, Commercial Property, Private Client, Dispute Resolution, and Corporate & Commercial.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Secretary to join our Commercial Property team based in Lewes. The role would suit a legal secretary with a background in either commercial or residential property, who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and well-regarded firm.
You will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to fee earners, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of matters from instruction through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
1. Providing comprehensive secretarial support to the Commercial Property team
2. Help with completion statements on Excel
3. Conduct searches on Land Registry
4. Preparing and amending legal documents and correspondence
5. Complying TR1, AP1 and SDLT duties
6. Managing fee earners’ diaries, appointments, and deadlines
7. Opening, maintaining, and closing client files in line with firm procedures
8. Handling client communications professionally by telephone, email, and in person
9. Assisting with document production, file management, and post-completion tasks
10. Supporting billing, invoices, time recording, and general administrative duties
11. Liaising with clients, agents, and other third parties as required
Skills & Experience
12. Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within commercial or residential property
13. Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
14. Confident audio and copy typing skills
15. Professional and courteous communication style
16. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
17. Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
18. A team-focused approach with the ability to work independently
