We’re offering an exciting opportunity to manage our in-house fleet maintenance operation based in our modern vehicle workshops at Hazel Court Depot.
This role is central to ensuring the safety, compliance, and efficiency of a diverse Council fleet comprising of over 230 vehicles and 250+ pieces of plant and equipment.
Supporting You In Your Team You’ll Have
* A skilled operational workshop team, including two supervisors, responsible for repairs, servicing, and inspections.
* A dedicated office team that includes technical support and administrative staff.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining high standards of safety and compliance, ensuring our fleet meets all relevant legislation and delivers best value for the Council.
This includes overseeing the maintenance of our growing fleet of battery electric vehicles, supporting our ambition to be carbon neutral by 2030.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage day-to-day operations of a busy vehicle workshop.
* Ensure compliance with Operator Licensing requirements and all other relevant legislation.
* Oversee our in-house Class 4 & 7 MOT and taxi testing services.
* Manage our tachograph calibration centre.
* Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
* Proven experience in the fleet and transport sector.
* Strong working knowledge of vehicle maintenance, compliance and legislation.
* Excellent people management and leadership skills.
* Ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and service users.
* Initiative, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to high standards.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
The postholder will have access to secure government sites or email. In order to use these systems, the Cabinet Office requires the HR Team to carry out Baseline Personnel Standard Security (BPSS) checks.
Please note, we do not have a sponsorship licence to sponsor indivdiuals for visas to work in the UK, therefore we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
