Senior Software Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Group Technology team in Milton Keynes. In this role, you will help develop, support and enhance business systems and applications using .NET technologies and SQL Server.
We offer a hybrid working arrangement with one or two days per week in our Milton Keynes office.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Be up to date regarding best practices in software development and deployment
2. Implement best practice coding in relation to development coding standards
3. Use operational data to improve the stability and performance of the applications
4. Maintain documentation and release notes
5. Have awareness of application security considerations
6. Identify dependencies across the organization and work with teams to resolve them before they become an issue, and install preventative measures to mitigate repeat occurrences
7. Effectively handle risk, change, and uncertainty across the organization
8. Work alone or alongside other Software Engineers on projects where necessary
9. Create secure and high performing n-tier applications utilising best practices in the development of database applications using SQL
10. Contribute to improve the overall processes and methodologies followed by the wider team
11. Design and develop commercial/enterprise web applications
12. Ensure application performance, quality, and responsiveness
13. Work with all teams to recommend solutions that are in accordance with accepted testing frameworks
Experience and Skills Required:
14. Experience with Scrum/Agile methodologies and working in that environment
15. Developing and maintaining multiple connected software solutions
16. Web applications experience using C#, ASP.NET, MVC
17. Modern web application development architectures and frameworks such as React JS
18. Excellent skills in SQL Server
19. Ability to select and use the most appropriate tools, technologies, and languages for the job
20. Team-oriented, with a willingness to work as part of a collaborative environment
21. Skilled in software testing methodologies including TDD
22. Strong knowledge of object-oriented design and development skills
Highly Desirable:
23. Experience with concurrent programming techniques, parallelism, and threading
24. Experience working with distributed systems and microservice architectures
25. Experience with high-scalability projects involving cloud-based infrastructure design and implementation
26. Microsoft certified status
