Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a confident and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of complex design and build projects, combining both civil engineering and mechanical & electrical (M&E) elements. This is an excellent opportunity for a self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is driven to manage cost and value to achieve profitable and commercially successful outcomes.
You will oversee a diverse portfolio of projects, many operating within regulated and safety‑critical environments, contributing to resilience, infrastructure renewal, and long‑term client partnerships.

Your Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of multiple complex projects, ensuring effective cost control, risk management and value optimisation. You will work closely with operational teams, procurement and clients to maintain commercial governance and influence profitable delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all commercial aspects of design & build projects with civils and M&E elements.
* Prepare and submit interim applications, valuations and final accounts.
* Ensure payments are received in accordance with contract conditions.
* Lead subcontractor procurement, negotiation and agreement of final accounts.
* Produce detailed cost/value reconciliations, forecasts and commercial reports.
* Support tendering, pricing and estimating for future work opportunities.
* Manage variations, compensation events and claims with clarity and accuracy.
* Provide commercial guidance to operational teams and mentor junior staff.
* Build strong relationships with clients to support collaborative project delivery.
* Drive commercial best practice, identifying opportunities to maximise profitability.

What You’ll Bring
* Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience).
* MRICS or MCICES desirable (or working towards).
* Experience working on civil engineering or multi‑disciplinary M&E‑linked projects.
* Strong understanding of design & build contracting and commercial risk.
* Ability to work independently, take initiative and lead commercial processes.
* Excellent commercial awareness, cost management and communication skills.
* Competent user of MS Office and commercial management tools.
