Overview
Do you have an interest in caring for children, young people and their families? We are looking to recruit a motivated registered nurse with experience in caring for Children in Crisis.
The successful candidate will provide liaison support, clinical support, and educational support for staff caring for Children in Crisis across UHCW. Applicants must have effective communication skills to foster efficient relationships with Children in Crisis, their families and staff, and must provide an immunisation and vaccination report from their UK occupational health provider or GP.
Key responsibilities
* Provide liaison support and clinical and educational support for staff caring for Children in Crisis across UHCW.
* Identify and assess the professional development needs of staff in relation to Children in Crisis and coordinate and participate in the delivery of appropriate training programmes.
* Maintain own clinical competency in line with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and promote best practice in accordance with current paediatric national and local guidelines.
* Ensure NMC Record Keeping Standards are upheld and act as a clinical role model within the Trust.
* Maintain good working relationships with multidisciplinary colleagues and be available for a minimum of one clinical shift per month, possibly more depending on service need.
* Provide clinical supervision and debriefing for self and others; advise on service activities, controlling risks, and supporting professional development plans for staff.
* Assist in audit, monitoring and evaluation of clinical interventions and practice, and contribute to educational events for disseminating results of service evaluation and audit.
* Maintain systems to monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of training and educational events; support ward-based staff in managing Children in Crisis.
* Develop and deliver structured training programmes (e.g., Safety Interventions, ligature training) to mitigate risk assessments and maintain training needs documentation systems.
* Coordinate and participate in delivery of training programmes tailored to the paediatric nursing team’s professional development requirements and liaise with senior paediatric nursing professionals to establish specific service need requirements.
* Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the post as designated by the Group Director of Nursing / Lead Nurse / Modern Matron.
Qualifications
* Registered nurse with experience caring for Children in Crisis.
* Effective communication skills to build relationships with Children and Young People in Crisis, their families, and staff.
* Knowledge of paediatric national and local guidelines and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* Commitment to maintaining clinical competency and engaging in professional development.
* Availability for flexible working and a minimum of one clinical shift per month.
