Job Introduction

Do you enjoy helping people in a busy environment? Are you seeking a part time role as part of a friendly team?

We're recruiting a Library Assistant for our popular Kingston Library. You'll be dedicated and enthusiastic and will enjoy collaborating with colleagues and helping people of all ages.

You'll be front of house helping customers, welcoming visitors, assisting with events like story times, and providing advice on library materials and equipment.

It's a rewarding community role where you'll be fostering local people's love of reading.

Role Responsibilities

* Undertake counter and enquiry desk duties.
* Undertake administrative routines as required.
* Participate in training and supervision of library volunteers.
* Able to work with groups of children and deliver story times.

Ideal Candidate

*
o GCSE maths and English A-C grade or relevant experience to demonstrate adequate levels of literacy and numeracy.
* ECDL: or equivalent IT skills by relevant experience.
* Experience in customer care service in private or public sector.
* Good communication skills for customers and staff.
* Ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm and helpful manner.
* Ability to drive would be desirable.
* Should you be successful and offered this position, please note that a DBS Check will be required.

Our roles are either designated 'site based' or 'home based'. 'Site based' roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst 'home based' roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
