Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import/Export Clerk to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in managing the logistics of goods entering and leaving the country, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and facilitating smooth operations within the supply chain. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills and a solid understanding of transportation management systems, logistics, and supply chain processes.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate import and export activities, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, including FDA regulations.
* Utilise transportation management systems to track shipments and manage logistics effectively.
* Maintain accurate data entry for all transactions related to imports and exports.
* Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless communication throughout the supply chain.
* Negotiate terms with suppliers and customers to facilitate efficient B2B sales.
* Generate leads for potential clients while managing existing relationships through CRM software.
* Assist in the preparation of necessary documentation for customs clearance and shipping.
* Work closely with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to optimise shipping processes.
* Implement Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems to streamline communication between partners.
* Support sales management efforts by providing logistical insights and data analysis.
Requirements
* Proven experience in import/export operations or a related field is preferred.
* Familiarity with transportation management systems, supply chain logistics, and CRM software.
* Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships in a B2B environment.
* Knowledge of FDA regulations and compliance standards related to imports/exports is advantageous.
* Experience with data entry and maintaining accurate records is essential.
* Understanding of 3PL operations and lead generation techniques is beneficial.
* Proficiency in AS400 or similar software systems would be an asset.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail.
