Overview
The Consultant will provide medical leadership to the St Helier Hospital Liaison Psychiatry Team, working closely with the Team Manager to ensure a safe, efficient and effective service that meets the Trust's Key Performance Indicators.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide medical leadership and ensure the care delivered by the team is safe and of a good standard.
* Participate in systems of audit and clinical governance.
* Resolve problems on own initiative and, where necessary, raise concerns to the team manager and others.
* Deliver liaison care for patients on wards, outpatients with physical illness and mental health problems, and consultations for healthcare professionals at St Helier Hospital.
* Assess and manage patients presenting with episodes of self‑harm and mental health crises in the Emergency Department and on wards, including initiating risk‑management plans.
* Support and advise carers, and provide education and training for acute hospital staff on assessment, management and referral of patients with mental illness.
Qualifications and Experience
