Detailed job description and main responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Take responsibility for the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of a range of training events and services to meet leadership and management training needs of The Trust and other Maguire client groups internally and externally. 2. Deliver training in a variety of settings, including face to face and on-line, using specialist facilitation and group development skills adapting learning to groups needs and requirements. 3. Deliver specialist knowledge to a range of colleagues which support the strategic development of high-quality leadership and management skills - informed by national policy, Trust cultural reviews and contemporary research in both management and leadership practice and educational delivery. 4. Provide expert support to workforce colleagues, to proactively identify development pathways, and specialist training needs and opportunities for all Christie staff. Person specification QUALIFICATIONS Essential criteria Degree in relevant field Post graduate academic qualification degree or professional equivalent.in a relevant leadership & management, OD, CIPD, communication, or psychosocial area Post-graduate teaching qualification. Desirable criteria Membership of CIPD or BPS OD qualification Coaching / mentoring qualification EXPERIENCE Essential criteria Extensive experience in designing, facilitating and interactive teaching sessions courses across leadership and management l levels Facilitating using experiential teaching methods. Delivering innovative training to professional learners using in both classroom and virtual environments Working with single and multiprofessional groups Leading organisation wide training initiatives, tailoring programmes to identified need and working across multiple departments and different cultures Experience of being creative, challenging mindsets and habits, working to create a psychologically safe environment for staff to flourish Using coaching approaches to develop people Desirable criteria Experience of leadership and management facilitation in health care Experience of delivering leadership and management frameworks Commissioning external groups to deliver educational programmes of work Supporting others to Train as trainers in the field. Experience of working in a health or social care setting Conducting training needs analysis Giving and receiving feedback to others for development of practice SKILLS Essential criteria Highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Proven ability to deliver training sessions using a range non-didactic experiential and interactive methods involving group interaction Ability to give sensitive or challenging feedback to senior colleagues in training situations. Can manage complex and challenging group dynamics in training situations. This can include highly emotive and distressing subjects and reactions. Ability to work as part of a team. Sound judgement, decision making and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and maintain high standards. Ability to push boundaries and have resilience being able to bounce back and to adapt in the face of challenging circumstances. Planning and organising - ability to manage conflicting priorities and consistently meet deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships to gain co-operation (influencing/ persuasive/motivational). Desirable criteria Research and/or evaluation skills in communication skills training field Proficiency in Microsoft packages and learning platforms e.g. Zoom / teams Experience of creating e-learning resources Skills in technological equipment to enhance teaching techniques KNOWLEDGE Essential criteria Extensive knowledge of leadership and management theory and practice Knowledge of approaches to embedding cultural inclusivity into leadership and management training and roles Significant knowledge of • Behaviour change models • Communication models & strategies • Experiential teaching strategies • Theory of managing group dynamics • Coaching & mentoring A practical understanding of the principles and application of andragogy (adult learning).
