Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician role to join our team at HMP Lewes, a category B men’s prison. The site has both a pharmacy and dispenser with a strong, integrated team and is expanding. This role offers learning and development and career progression, including ACPT training. Overtime is paid at the bank rate, and you are welcome to visit the department and have a cup of tea.
Hours
37.5 hours over 4 days, on a 2‑weekly fixed rota. It includes 1 weekend in 2.
Monday‑Thursday 07:30‑17:00 / Friday‑Sunday 08:00‑17:00
Salary
Annual salary up to £34,658 per annum FTE – depending on experience.
Main duties of the job
* As a GPHC‑registered pharmacy technician, become an integral member of the pharmacy team and the broader multidisciplinary clinical healthcare team.
* Provide outstanding quality, patient‑centred care, seeking out, listening to and acting on patient feedback to personalise services.
* Ensure safe and secure medicines management, maintain patient medical records to agreed standards, and follow standard operating procedures to a high level.
* Deliver non‑judgemental care within professional standards, from timely medicine administration to analysing cost‑effective prescribing as defined by the Health in Justice medicines policy.
* Build strong links within teams, partners and stakeholders, providing a service that people can trust, feel safe in, and feel proud of.

Qualifications required
* NVQ Level 3, or above, BTEC or equivalent.
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Up to date with ongoing CPD.
* Relevant post‑qualification pharmacy experience.
* General GCSE education or equivalent.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures.
