Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Surgical First Assistant at University Hospital Ayr.

What You Will Do

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic practitioner with perioperative experience especially within the scrub role. The individual must have the ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills, while delivering exceptional high standards of care.

When not required to assist in surgery, the role would also include carrying out duties in line with the Deputy Charge Nurse role. They will be part of a fast paced, dynamic team based within a six theatre main theatre department. The department provides the population of Ayrshire and Arran with exceptional standards of care within the specialties including elective orthopaedics, urology, general and bariatric surgery.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job

You must have first level registration with the NMC/ HCPC and be working towards/ educated to degree level or hold relevant evidence of post registration and personal development.

It would be desirable for you to have completed the SFA course parts 1 & 2, however candidates without this will be considered. There will be the expectation for this to be completed within an 18 month timeframe. You will be fully supported. Successful completion of this would be required for the post to be upheld.
