3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• A temporary opportunity has arisen for a Transport Solutions Assistant to support the delivery of a broad range of specialised transport services, including home-to-school transport, youth and adult social care transport, and ad hoc travel arrangements.
• This role involves contract management, procurement, customer liaison, and safeguarding responsibilities.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Coordinate and support a variety of specialised transport services across multiple service areas
• Monitor and evaluate contract performance, including regular site visits
• Manage ad hoc transport procurement, ensuring best value for money
• Ensure all safeguarding and child protection protocols are followed
• Evaluate and administer Direct Travel Assistance Payments (DTAP)
• Liaise with schools and care professionals to ensure service users have certified Transport Care Plans
• Conduct service reviews to identify efficiency savings
• Use internal systems to maintain financial and client records and produce reports
• Verify supplier and client payments; monitor revenue returns
• Deputise for Transport Officers when required
• Maintain high levels of customer care when interacting with clients and service providers
Skills/Experience:
• Experience in transport coordination or administration, ideally within a public sector or social care environment
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
• Confident in monitoring contract compliance and investigating service issues
• Skilled in procurement and evaluating best value services
• Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• IT literate, with experience using bespoke software systems for reporting and record-keeping
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with stakeholders, clients and suppliers
• High level of attention to detail in financial verification and service quality monitoring
• Ability to analyse contract performance data and contribute to cost-saving initiatives
• Experience working with vulnerable groups is desirable
Additional Information:
• The closing date: 27/08/2025.
• Full-time role: 37 Hours/week.
