Overview
Job Details: Criminal Justice Peer Support Apprentice at Waythrough (formerly Humankind). Based in Durham Constabulary – Investigative Hub and Custody, Spennymoor, DL16 6FS. 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Location: Durham Liaison and Diversion Service.
Waythrough is a network of services in England aimed at tackling poverty and disadvantage through mental health, substance misuse, housing and related support. Our services help around 125,000 people each year, delivered by nearly 3,500 staff and volunteers across almost 200 services.
Responsibilities
* Support the Liaison and Diversion Team to improve the lives of people with vulnerabilities as they navigate custody and court processes.
* Engage with clients to provide guidance and connect them with relevant services.
* Travel independently across the area to meet clients in community venues (travel expenses provided).
Qualifications and Requirements
* Personal lived experience of mental health issues or be/has been the carer of someone with mental health issues, which is a requirement of the role; community service and volunteering experience will be considered.
* Willingness to undertake a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Adult Care with a local college, including achieving Level 2 in Maths and English functional skills.
* Basic IT skills; ability to use a laptop to carry out duties.
* Access to a car to travel across the area.
* Driving licence is required for the role.
