Overview
Regional Safety Engineer, Data Center Health and Safety — AWS (Amazon Web Services) seeks to enhance health and safety across data centers. The role owns the Health and Safety function for the designated area, partnering with data center engineers and cross-functional teams to improve safety culture, protect employees, and support the global health and safety program. Regular collaboration with security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, corporate counsel, and human resources is required. Travel may be domestic and international.
Key responsibilities
* Implement safety standards, policies and best practices.
* Provision and management of training: induction, refresher and manual handling training as required; develop and deliver training/presentations to support achievement of health & safety objectives; manage the training database for all employees and ensure all H&S training requirements are fulfilled.
* Collaborate with outside vendors (general contractors, sub-contractors, emergency services) as they relate to operations and construction.
* Ensure compliance and implementation of global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.
* Develop and review safety plans for on-site emergencies, special events and other unique safety situations.
* Perform safety data analysis and create benchmarking.
* Ensure safety record keeping and provide accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
* Consult and work with compliance teams on safety regulations interpretations and investigations.
* Develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
* Adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy and deadlines.
* Able to work as part of a team and provide safety support to regions outside of local cluster when required.
* Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent
* Experience in compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent
* Experience handling confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with SQL and Excel
* Experience in program requirements definition, together with data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements
