About the Role
An esteemed London-based higher education institution is seeking a Head of Fire Safety to lead the strategic development and implementation of fire safety across its multi-site campus. This is a pivotal leadership role, ensuring the safety and compliance of a world-class academic environment.
You’ll be responsible for shaping fire safety policy, overseeing risk assessments, managing training, and influencing major development projects. As a key member of the crisis management team, you’ll also build strong relationships with external regulators and lead a high-performing team of fire safety professionals.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a comprehensive fire safety strategy aligned with institutional health and safety goals.
* Provide strategic advice on fire safety matters and support departments with fire risk assessments.
* Ensure compliance with fire safety legislation and monitor contractor performance.
* Influence design decisions on new builds and refurbishments.
* Lead fire safety training and incident investigations.
* Represent fire safety in crisis management and regulatory engagements.
What We’re Looking For
* A recognised qualification in Fire Safety (Level 4 Diploma or equivalent) and Fire Risk Assessment (e.g. NEBOSH).
* Extensive leadership experience in fire safety within a complex, multi-site organisation.
* Deep knowledge of fire safety legislation, building regulations, and fire engineering.
* Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
* A proactive, evidence-based approach with the ability to inspire teams.
