Lecturer/Instructor Demonstrator in Hairdressing (EL649/653m)
Salary: £27,486 - £41,467 (pro rata per annum) / £28,282 - £30,881 (pro rata per annum)
Contract Type: Fixed Term, Maternity Cover
Hours: 31.45 hours per week
Location: Crewe Campus
This role is to start in September 2025 and is a split role: 20.35 hours as Lecturer and 11.1 hours as Instructor/Demonstrator.
Responsibilities
* Lecturing on a range of courses in Hairdressing
* Undertaking tutorial support and associated administrative tasks
* Developing learners' practical skills through demonstrations and instruction in practical workshops and realistic working environments
* Assessing learners against identified frameworks
* Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons in line with College policies
* Keeping accurate records for learners' progress in College
Person Specification/Qualifications
* Teacher trained (PGCE, DTLLS or CertEd) or commitment to work towards
* Assessor Award (TAQA/A1) or equivalent
* Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Hairdressing
* GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths
* Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in work and the learning environment
* Up-to-date occupational experience
* Enhanced DBS check
Additional Information
We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and from current industry practitioners who do not have a teaching qualification. A Lecturer Development Programme provides staff with support and training, including inductions to College systems, a curriculum mentor, and regular 1-2-1 support from the Quality team. Industry experts without a teaching qualification will be supported through the Introduction to Teaching at Cheshire College South & West 12-week programme.
