Job Summary

Acute Oncology Service - Adult

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Acute Oncology Service (AOS) at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust for a Band 7 Acute Oncology / Cancer of Unknown Primary Clinical Nurse Specialist. We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and dynamic nurse to join our small, friendly and forward thinking team.

Main duties of the job

The Acute Oncology Team provides early input of specialist care to oncology patients, enabling safer and better quality care for patients with complications of treatments or new diagnoses. You would need to possess the skills and confidence to urgently review patients with complications of cancer and ensure appropriate pathways of care are put in place. The aim of the AOS team is to support patients and provide the help clinicians sometimes need in caring for people with a malignancy, including new diagnosis. The role also provides specialist support to patients with Cancer of Unknown Primary through the pathway of care from diagnosis to end‑of‑life care.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate specialist knowledge and experience relating to all aspects of oncological malignancy, experience in a senior nursing role and be educated to first degree level. The AOS team cover both QMC and City sites Monday‑Friday and the successful candidate would be expected to be flexible to meet the changing needs of the service in the future.

The post holder will be required to demonstrate the ability to prioritise workloads, use their own initiative and manage a caseload of patients autonomously.

The post holder will be expected to be able to assist in implementing and providing both formal and informal education programmes on the Acute Oncology Service to staff within the Trust.
