Are you a hands-on, experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager with a background in industrial manufacturing? Ready to take charge of a well-established maintenance team and play a critical role in a specialist chemical processing environment?
A longstanding UK manufacturer, known for its expertise in complex chemical processes and custom synthesis, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead their mechanical and civil engineering functions at a busy, lower-tier COMAH site. This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role where you'll be responsible for both people and performance – with real scope to shape the department.
What You’ll Be Doing:

Lead and manage the Mechanical & Civil Engineering teams (approx. 23 staff + contractors)
*
Oversee maintenance operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective outcomes
*
Manage minor engineering projects within a live chemical manufacturing environment
*
Use CMMS tools to plan, track and report maintenance activity
*
Maintain a safety-first culture in line with site, legal, and regulatory requirements
*
Collaborate with suppliers, insurers, and regulatory bodies (e.g. HSE)
*
Monitor asset reliability and support continuous improvement activities
What You’ll Need:
*
Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering (degree preferred)
*
10+ years' mechanical engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing setting
*
At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership/supervisory capacity
*
Strong experience managing maintenance teams and contractors
*
Working knowledge of COMAH or high-hazard site requirements
*
Skilled in using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
*
Clear communicator with excellent people and IT skills
