Overview
An exciting opportunity exists for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to support the Ward Managers and the nursing team on Ward 22 Short Stay within the Department of Acute Medicine at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
You will be an experienced RGN capable of leading and assessing the work of the nursing team, building upon your clinical and managerial experience. The successful candidate will support continuous improvement of the department, monitor and maintain excellent standards of care reflected by patient experience, and bring sound clinical knowledge and acute setting experience to the role.
The role requires the ability to supervise, manage and control the activities of a department efficiently and effectively, including assessing and implementing appropriate care for new and current patients while ensuring adequate staffing levels and appropriate use of resources.
You will actively participate in teaching, training and supervision of all grades of staff, be receptive to change, and provide dynamic support to senior colleagues in the ongoing development of the department.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You should have a proactive management style, anticipate and address issues constructively within a multidisciplinary team, and remain flexible to the changing workload.

Responsibilities
* Lead and assess the work of the nursing team on Ward 22 Short Stay, under the direction of Ward Managers.
* Support continuous improvement of the department and uphold standards of care reflected in patient experience.
* Supervise, manage and control departmental activities efficiently, including staffing and resource use.
* Participate in teaching, training and supervision of all staff grades.
* Be receptive to change and provide active assistance and support to senior colleagues.
* Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team and maintain a proactive management approach.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with RGN qualification; current registration and eligibility to practise.
* Experience in an acute medical setting; able to demonstrate clinical and managerial capability.
* Proven ability to supervise and lead a nursing team and manage department activities.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills; proactive and flexible in approach.
