This position does not directly manage or supervisor others.
Position Summary
This position will assist the maintenance department by gaining expertise on-the-job in both welding and fabricating with various pieces of equipment and different types of metal to make repairs to equipment and fixtures. A successful candidate will also bring innovative and creative solutions to challenges and contribute ideas to find ways to work more efficiently on the team. As a member of the maintenance team, this position will have the opportunity to help out cross-functionally, such as but not limited to within the maintenance shop, trailer shop, construction, and in production.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure when welding that correct metal(s) for project are being utilized
* Properly measure and cut materials prior to welding
* Ensure that materials being welded are within tolerance and will work properly
* Manage inventory of materials needed daily and communicate product needs to management appropriately and timely to ensure projects do not get delayed
* Fabricate or modify metal to better serve the business need in a safe and compliant manner
* Other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
* Knowledge of welding and fabricating objects
* Creative disposition
* Problem-solving skills
* Knowledge of using a torch, MIG welder, and stick welder
* Strong desire to learn the craft from an experienced welder
* Detail- and ability to focus
* Follow all safety procedures and precautions, as well as all standard welding safety requirements as directed on the job
Qualifications
* 1+ years’ experience welding
* Forklift operation experience
* Millwright and rigging experience
* Aluminum welding experience
Job Setting & Physical Demands
This position is primarily outdoors but may be required to work between locations and within an indoor office environment for administrative duties, which may require the use of computers and standard office equipment. Fluency to read, write, and understand the English is required. Must be able to work in all outdoor elements, including various weather conditions and with dust and allergens. Position requires long-term (up to 8+hours/day) ability for standing, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting on a regular basis to fulfill essential duties. Position also requires utilization of fine motor skills, including but not limited to pinching, squeezing, and pulling. Candidate must have the ability to operate all machinery necessary within the department and across the facility, including the ability to obtain required certifications to operate such equipment as necessary. Candidate also must have the ability to work at heights over 6 (six) feet. Candidate must be able to utilize and communicate via a 2-way radio.
Candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends as business needs arise and during peak seasons. Employee must have the ability to lift 35 pounds unaided, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
