We have an expanding portfolio of projects in the energy and industrial sectors and are seeking an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Industry and Infrastructure Facilities team. The role involves leading the structural design of buildings in energy and industrial projects, assisting with upskilling team members, ensuring structural integrity, and optimizing designs.
The position is primarily office-based with hybrid working options, located in one of our offices in Manchester, London, Leeds, Chester, Southampton, or Bristol. Occasional travel to client and project sites will be required.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading and managing structural engineering projects from conception to completion.
* Following project delivery stages such as FEED/FEL, DED, OE.
* Designing structural systems for energy and industrial facilities, including manufacturing buildings, substations, power stations, and infrastructure.
* Conducting structural analysis and detailed design to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.
* Developing innovative engineering solutions to enhance performance and optimize costs.
* Ensuring adherence to relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including architectural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers.
* Preparing technical reports, documentation, and proposals.
* Mentoring and upskilling junior engineers.
* Keeping updated with industry trends and technologies.
* Supporting business development and tendering activities.
Qualifications & experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.
* Chartered Engineer status with IStructE or ICE.
* At least 7 years (senior/principal) or 10 years (associate) of industry experience in structural engineering, specifically in energy and industrial projects, including substation design buildings.
* Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations relevant to energy and industrial sectors.
Skills and competencies:
* Strong understanding of structural design principles, materials, and construction methods.
* Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, TSD, Robot, or similar.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong project management and multitasking abilities.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Teamwork and collaboration skills.
* Technical expertise in structural engineering concepts.
* Proficiency in structural modelling and data analysis.
* Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient design practices.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Leadership and team management capabilities.
* Organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Experience in resource and cost estimation for structural design.
* Support for project planning and tendering processes.
* Ability to present at client and project meetings.
