The Role:

Are you interested in how schools, transport and other infrastructure is funded to support sustainable development in Hampshire? This is an opportunity to develop your data handling skills and learn about planning and development, working within a high performing local authority.

The County Council’s Spatial Planning service is seeking two candidates to join our Planning Obligations team. If you have a genuine interest in the financial and legal aspects of planning, this role is a chance to support infrastructure funding across the County. Working within a team, this is an opportunity to develop your technical skills, travel planning and development knowledge. For more information about a career in planning, please see .

What you’ll do:

We are looking for new team members with data handling and IT skills, ideally with knowledge in transport planning or developer contributions. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with the ability to handle complex financial data, provide great customer service, and interested in sustainable transport and the planning system.

You will help manage data on planning obligations and handle customer requests to fulfil a range of legal obligations (e.g. to make payments, fulfil travel plan duties; submit compliance information). One of roles advertised is to support the monitoring of developer obligations and the collection of financial contributions to ensure legal compliance.

Travel Plans are long-term management strategies, based on evidence of the anticipated transport impacts of development and with measures to promote and encourage sustainable travel (such as promoting walking and cycling). One of new the roles in our team will be focused on working with developers to monitor the delivery of these plans.

What we’re looking for:

With development and training, the successful candidate will be required to work independently with a significant caseload of legal agreements, or development and associated travel plans, to monitor. This role will suit someone with an eye for detail and strong communication and negotiation skills. This opportunity is advertised as full-time; however, we are also happy to consider applications from people wanting to work on a part-time basis and/or wanting to work flexibly (e.g. term time only). If this sparks your interest, and you think you might be the person we’re looking for, please contact Emily Howbrook to find out more about the role.

We don't require CVs as part of your application.

Why join us?

In return we can offer:

• Opportunities to develop your skills and experience, informally, or formally in a large, high performing local authority.
• Flexible working arrangements such as part time hours, job shares, compressed fortnights, and wrap-around school hours.
• Hampshire County Council is a flexible employer interested in making the most of your skills and offers a great work life balance.
