The Opportunity: Senior People Advisor The Senior People Advisor plays a pivotal role in delivering a high-quality, commercially focused people service across the business. Acting as a trusted advisor to leaders and managers, the role provides expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, policy interpretation, and people best practice, ensuring legal compliance while supporting a positive and high-performing workplace culture. The role holds ownership of employee relations activity, supports the design and implementation of people policies and initiatives, and uses people data and insights to influence decision-making and continuous improvement. The Senior People Advisor will also contribute to building management capability, embedding consistent people practices, and supporting organisational change. What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities Employee Relations & Case Management Lead and manage complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, long-term absence, and performance management matters, ensuring consistency, fairness, and legal compliance. Act as the escalation point for complex or sensitive people issues, providing expert advice and risk-based recommendations to managers and leaders. Coach and support managers to confidently conduct investigations, hearings, and formal meetings in line with policy and best practice. Oversee absence management activity, analysing trends and supporting managers to address both short- and long-term absence effectively. Mediate and resolve workplace conflicts, promoting respectful, timely, and sustainable outcomes. Ensure robust documentation, accurate record-keeping, and compliance with employment legislation, GDPR, and internal governance standards. Policy, Governance & People Initiatives Lead on the implementation, embedding, and ongoing review of people policies, procedures, and frameworks. Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure policies align with business needs, values, and legal requirements. Develop clear guidance, communications, and training materials to support consistent application of people policies. Deliver training and briefings to managers and employees on policy changes, employee relations best practice, and people management capability. Gather feedback and insights to continuously improve policy effectiveness and employee experience. Manager Coaching & Stakeholder Partnership Act as a trusted advisor to managers and leaders, providing pragmatic, commercially balanced people advice. Build manager capability through coaching, upskilling, and guidance on performance management, employee behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement. Influence leaders to adopt best practice people management approaches that support performance, inclusion, and retention. Support leaders through change, restructuring, and organisational development activity where required. People Data, Insights & Reporting Analyse people data and trends, including employee relations activity, absence, turnover, and engagement metrics. Produce insightful reports and dashboards for senior leadership, highlighting risks, trends, and actionable recommendations. Use data-led insights to inform workforce planning, policy development, and people strategy decisions. Track the effectiveness of people interventions and initiatives, recommending improvements where required. Skills, Qualifications and Experience Significant experience in an HR advisory or people partner role, with strong expertise in employee relations. In-depth working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice Proven ability to manage complex, high-risk, or sensitive people matters with professionalism and sound judgement. Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of the organisation. Strong analytical capability, with experience using people data to inform decisions and improvements. Highly organised, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Education and Qualifications: CIPD Level 5 minimum or equivalent professional experience. Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is desirable. Why Join Right Legal Group?
