Senior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator
Role Overview
An experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator is required to lead and manage tendering, estimating, and commercial activities across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates, maintaining financial control throughout project lifecycles, and supporting the successful delivery of projects within budget and programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage tenders, cost plans, estimates, and Bills of Quantities for projects valued up to £5 million.
- Coordinate and manage bid submissions, ensuring compliance with client requirements and submission deadlines.
- Produce and maintain Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), financial forecasts, and commercial reports.
- Prepare interim valuations, payment applications, variations, and final accounts.
- Procure and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure best value and commercial advantage.
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to agree project costs and commercial strategies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiency and innovation within commercial processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Essential Requirements
- HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in both estimating and quantity surveying within refurbishment and new-build construction projects.
- Strong understanding of tendering procedures, procurement practices, and bid management processes.
- Experience managing project financial performance, including CVRs, forecasting, and commercial reporting.
- Sound knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to challenging deadlines.
- Full UK Driving Licence and valid CSCS Card.
