RSW – Residential Support Worker (Children’s Services)
Salary Range: £25,396.80 – £27,164.80 + Sleep-ins (approx. £6,000)
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for RSW Residential Support Workers within children’s services. This role offers a clear development pathway, allowing you to join at an unqualified level and progress through to qualified Residential Support Worker or RSW Shift Leader as your experience and training grow.

RSW (Unqualified) Residential Support Worker – Probation
Starting salary: £25,396.80 + sleep-ins
As a probationary RSW (Unqualified) Residential Support Worker, you will complete a full induction, learn internal systems, attend fortnightly supervisions, take part in staff meetings and complete online and face-to-face training. You will support young people with daily routines, maintain accurate recording and reporting, and complete essential home and young person paperwork.
RSW (Unqualified) Residential Support Worker – Post-Probation
Salary: £25,812.80 + sleep-ins
After passing probation, the RSW (Unqualified) Residential Support Worker takes on additional responsibilities. You will learn to complete risk assessments, care plans and document checks. You may begin your QCF Level 4 qualification and start supporting seniors or shift leaders. Applicants with at least six months’ experience in children’s residential care may join directly at this level.
RSW (Qualified) Residential Support Worker - QCF Level 3/4
Salary: £26,436.80 + sleep-ins
The RSW (Qualified) Residential Support Worker holds a recognised Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in children’s services. Responsibilities include acting as a keyworker, attending external professional meetings, contributing to staff meetings, leading occasional shifts and demonstrating strong safeguarding knowledge. This level suits those ready to take on more professional responsibility within the home.
RSW Shift Leader – Residential Support Worker
Salary: £27,164.80 + sleep-ins
The RSW Shift Leader Residential Support Worker has completed at least 80% of their Level 3/4 qualification and brings strong experience in children’s residential care. You will regularly lead shifts, complete weekly home checks, support managers, deputies and senior staff, and occasionally assist other homes in a shift-leading capacity. This role requires confidence, clear communication and the ability to manage young people’s routines and behaviours effectively.
