Responsibilities
Manages staff within area of responsibility through the establishment of job roles and responsibilities, recruitment, assignment and review of work, performance evaluation, and provision of advice, guidance and discipline where necessary.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the overall communications and marketing strategy, and social media presence for the organization.
Provides consultation to the President and Corporate Directors on issues related to communications.
Supports the development of initiatives that further the vision and mission of Northwood through strategic planning, promotion and other related activities.
Provides support to internal clients to develop and prepare written material for internal and external communications including media releases, press kits, corporate newspaper, brochures, flyers etc.
Completes the layout, design and construct of a variety of print media and website material and/or contracts external agents to produce high quality products that reflect Northwood's brand and commitment to excellence.
Serve as the primary contact for media relations, coordinating responses and crafting key messages in collaboration with the CEO
Develops and coordinates effective media relations, implementing timely media releases and public service announcements for senior leadership review. Manages the organization's press materials, including press clippings, photographs, and advertisements.
Oversees the process from conception to completion, including the creation, development, layout, and distribution of program brochures, newsletters, corporate newspapers, family/client updates, and community reports.
Provides support to the Foundation including special events and fundraising activities.
Monitors print and online publications for relevant stories, news items, and emerging issues that may impact the organization, aiding in strategic planning and issues management.
Manages and updates content for the website, intranet (Hub), and TV Tours, including emergency messages and ongoing submissions.
Inspects layouts and advertising copy, edits scripts, audio and video tapes, and other promotional materials to ensure alignment with the organization's brand strategy.
Works with internal clients to gather and organize information for planning marketing and advertising campaigns, such as recruitment efforts.
Identifies market trends and customer groups, developing, communicating, and evaluating a marketing and branding strategy unique to the organization.
Present/track on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement rate, follower growth, and website traffic; and suggest improvements.
Performs other related duties as required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following Qualifications
Completion of a recognized university degree or community college certificate in Public Relations/Communications
Five years of experience in Public Relations/Communications
Experience in Web site design and content development/management
Knowledge of the following
Sales and Marketing
Not for profit, charitable sector
English Language
Administration and Management
Customer Service
Communications and Media
Familiar with the concepts of layout and design, editing and proofreading and with print/production processes
Proficient in the use of windows-based software including MS Office Suite (with an emphasis on MS Word), Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Word Press
Ability to multi-task while working to meet tight deadlines
Highly developed written and oral presentation skills
Flexibility/availability to work occasional evening and weekend events as needed
Experienced in writing editorial content
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis
Salary: As per Northwood Scale
Reporting to the President & CEO
Effective: Immediately
Hours: 80 hours bi-weekly
