Youth Justice Case ManagerManchester19/06/2025 – 6 to 9 months initiallyMonday to Friday, 36 hrs/week – Office based
* This post will be part of a multi-agency team providing an integrated approach to delivering services to achieve the principal aim of the youth justice system, which is to prevent offending by children and young people.
* Work within the court arena, in the community and supervises young people in custodial settings, as well as having contact with victims of crime.
* Supervising and managing children and young people supported through Prevention, Diversionary Interventions, Bail Support programmes and Statutory Orders.
* Supporting children and young people who have been sentenced to custody, including preparation for their return to the community (e.g. working in partnership with parents’/carers/wider family and statutory and other partners.
* Offering intervention and support to young people in contact with the criminal justice system and their families in accordance with assessed risks and needs.
* Facilitating and attending Referral Order Panels and advising Community Panel Members.
* Adopt a flexible approach to working with young people and their families in the community, in order to protect the public, prevent re-offending and secure positive outcomes for young people.
* Take responsibility for young people with more complex needs or with a higher risk of offending or of serious harm.
* Build relationships with all young people, including those with challenging behaviours and/or limited social skills, and to carry out appropriate tailored interventions to achieve positive outcomes.
* Providing a service to the Court, including both verbal and written reports, bail information and assessment, and Referral Order panel reports.
Requirements
* UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle, business insurance
* Demonstrable experience working with children and young people in a youth justice/criminal justice
* Knowledge of youth justice, child welfare, and criminal legislation
* Awareness of child protection, safeguarding and risk management responsibilities and procedure
* Awareness of the social and personal development of young people and how to intervene in factors that influence offending
* Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service
