Overview

Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice role at Serco, based at RNAS Culdrose, Helston, Cornwall.

Serco are recruiting for Aircraft Maintenance Apprentices to join their team at RNAS Culdrose. You will be carrying out the duties of an Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice (by Trade) across both on Aircraft areas and Off Aircraft Workshops facilities (by Trade) as directed by the Training programme. Full training for everything will be provided.

Apprenticeship Qualification

* Aircraft Maintenance Technician
* Level 2 Diploma Aerospace and Aviation Engineering (Foundation Competence) delivered at Camborne College in Year 1
* Level 3 Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance (Mechanical/Avionic) delivered at Camborne College in Year 2
* Level 3 Diploma in Aviation Maintenance (Development Competence) delivered on site in Year 3


Expected Apprenticeship Duration

36 to 42 months based on completion of end point assessment


What you’ll do

You will be carrying out the duties of an Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice (by Trade) across both on Aircraft areas and Off Aircraft Workshops facilities (by Trade) as directed by the Training programme.

Responsibilities include day-to-day learning and practical on-the-job tasks, attending college, and undertaking required training as directed by Line Management.


Essential Skills

* Maths Grade 5
* English Grade 5
* Science Subject Grade 5 preferable
* Ability to commute to College and RNAS Culdrose daily
* To complete required levels in each academic year to continue to the next year
* To complete all Serco essential mandated training each year
* To be certified Yellow Belt by end of Year three
* Comply with the Royal Navy Support and the Serco Management System and regulatory engineering articles


Day-to-Day You’ll Be Involved In

* Co-operate with Line Management on Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
* Attending college 2 days a week
* Learning practically and on-the-job tasks
* Undertake all further training courses necessary to your job as required by Line Management
* Day-to-day learning of becoming an Aircraft Technician
* Remain flexible and carry out other tasks within capabilities in support of the Contract as directed

Things to consider

* You must be able to travel to RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall on a daily basis
* You must be able to travel to Camborne College 2 days a week during term time
* You must not be colour blind; proof required of Colour Perception (CP) 2
* You MUST be able to attend an Interview/Assessment Centre (Date TBC)
* As this is located on a military establishment, you will undergo full Ministry of Defence security checks, including a criminal records check

Due to the nature of the organisation, all employees of Serco are required to be security cleared to SC level. If successful, we will support you with the SC process. Normally you would need to have been a UK resident for the last 5 consecutive years.
