About Us
We are a group of professional traders specialising in equities and commodities, operating as a profit-driven trading desk. Our strategies combine quantitative models with deep market insights. To strengthen our edge, we are seeking an experienced Economist to collaborate with our in-house team and contribute to the development of macro regime signals that guide trading decisions.
Role Overview
This is a part-time, project-based collaboration (10–15 hours per week). The economist will work directly with traders to design, test, and deliver actionable regime detection frameworks rooted in macroeconomic theory, global markets, and quantitative analysis.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and refine macroeconomic regime models to inform equity and commodity trading strategies.
• Analyse global macroeconomic data, policy trends, and market cycles to generate predictive signals.
• Translate economic insights into quantitative models and deliverables for integration into trading workflows.
• Collaborate with traders to stress-test models, run backtests, and adapt signals to live markets.
• Provide structured outputs, including reports, data models, and actionable signals.
Requirements
• Advanced degree in Economics, Finance, or related field (PhD or MSc preferred).
• Proven expertise in macroeconomic modelling, global financial markets, and data-driven research.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with experience in data analysis and econometrics.
• Technical proficiency in Python, R, or Matlab, with familiarity in backtesting and market data APIs.
• Practical understanding of systematic or algorithmic trading models.
• Ability to dedicate 10–15 hours per week on a flexible schedule.
Nice-to-Have
• Prior experience working with hedge funds, trading firms, or research institutions.
• Knowledge of market microstructure, volatility regimes, and cross-asset correlations.
Engagement & Compensation
• Flexible, project-based collaboration.
• Compensation is profit-based, directly tied to outcomes and performance contribution (no fixed retainer).
