Job Description
* Design detailed interaction patterns, component behaviours, and interface states for digital products and services.
* Produce high-fidelity prototypes to communicate and validate interaction logic with users and developers.
* Define and document micro‑interactions, error states, validation patterns, and edge cases.
* Apply and extend the GOV.UK Design System, contributing reusable patterns where appropriate.
* Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure accurate, accessible implementation of designs.
* Ensure all interface designs meet WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and responsive design requirements.
* Work with UX designers and user researchers to refine interactions based on evidence.
* Maintain design system consistency and contribute to shared component libraries.
* Document interaction specifications clearly to support development handoff.
Qualifications
* Expert proficiency in Figma or equivalent design tooling, including component and variant management.
* Strong portfolio demonstrating interaction‑level design decisions, prototyping, and design system work.
* Familiarity with the GOV.UK Design System and experience designing within or alongside established design systems.
* Working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS/Sass sufficient to collaborate effectively with front‑end engineers.
* Familiarity with front‑end JavaScript frameworks and component‑based development approaches.
* Understanding of WCAG 2.2 and practical application within interface design.
* Experience using AI tools to accelerate prototyping, pattern generation, or design documentation.
* Strong communication skills, with ability to present and justify interaction decisions to technical and non‑technical audiences.
