As Room Leader you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for Inspires youngest members (aged 0-4yrs) during our Family Day sessions. You will be based in the dance room for the full family day session to host a range of activities suitable for this age range of young people. A key part of the role will be to plan, organise and set up activities following the EYFS Framework. You will be responsible for creating a fun, stimulating and productive environment for the young people to grow and work on their development. Building relationships with parents/carers and young people will be vital to help with future engagements to our family day and other family friendly events.
Key Responsibilities
Sessional Delivery
* The session will run 11:00-1:30 every Sunday
* Staff are required to attend briefings and de-brief before and after session (10:45-1:45pm)
* Due to the nature of the role and the added need for planning time you will have 1 hour per week planning time after your sessional delivery
Room Management
* You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for Inspires youngest members (aged 0-4yrs) during our Family Day sessions.
* You will be allocated the dance room at Inspire for the full family day session to host a range of activities suitable for this age range of young people.
* Following Inspires policies and health and safety measures is paramount when working with young people in our building.
* Ensure the room operates in compliance with safeguarding and health and safety regulations.
Planning Activities
* A key part of the Room Leader role will be to plan, organise and set up safe and inclusive activities following the EYFS Framework.
* You will be responsible for creating a fun, stimulating and productive environment for the young people to grow and work on their development.
Communication
* On these sessions you will be led by the Session Lead, this person will be ultimately responsible for the building
* management and any safeguarding disclosures on session. You will need to make sure Session Lead is aware of any issues in your area.
Active Team Member
* During our family day sessions the rest of our centre is open for the people in the building offering them a range of activities from Sports to Arts & Crafts and many more. Your role will require you to have a good understanding of the other areas open to guide young people in your room to after your sessions have finished.
* Attending any training needs and staff meetings
* Maintaining strong relationships with other staff within the green team.
* Parents/carers are required to stay with the young people during these sessions, so having good communication skills will also be paramount in this role to gather feedback from them and help to provide support to anyone attending your session.
Qualifications and skills
* Experience working in Early Years Education
* Be professional, polite and positive in all Verbal with staff, parents and children at all times
* Experience within a nursery or school setting including some extra responsibility
* The ability to build positive and meaningful relationships with our youngest children
* To have a good knowledge of the EYFS Framework
* An excellent team player excited to contribute to our centre
* A confident and sensitive communicator both adults and children
* Have excellent organisational and time management skills
* Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities in a dynamic environment.
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures, and best practices.
