Job Overview
The Senior Printer Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of printers at customer sites.
This role involves diagnosing technical issues, delivering high-quality service, and ensuring maximum uptime for client devices.
The position requires a customer‑focused professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to work independently in a field‑based environment.
The successful candidate will be the senior staff member of a small team and capable of mentoring and supporting colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, configure, and commission printers, multifunction devices (MFDs), and associated software solutions.
* Diagnose and repair hardware and software faults across a range of print devices.
* Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal device performance and longevity.
* Respond to service calls to provide longevity of fix and maintain high first‑time fix rates.
* Provide technical support and guidance to customers on‑site and remotely.
* Manage parts inventory and ensure accurate documentation of all service activities.
* Escalate complex technical issues to senior technical teams or manufacturers where required.
* Support junior engineers with technical mentoring and guidance.
* Maintain strong customer relationships and deliver excellent service standards.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and company procedures.
* Maintain detailed documentation for all aspects of the job role, including but not limited to a daily, weekly etc. to‑do‑list and how to guides.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in servicing printers and multifunctional devices in a field‑based role.
* Ideally possess strong knowledge of our major print brands (Canon, Sharp, Epson, Lexmark, HP, Ricoh).
* Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, print servers, driver deployment).
* Experience with print management software and document workflow solutions is not essential but would be of benefit.
* Ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software issues effectively.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Relevant technical certifications is desirable.
