We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated People, Culture & Safety Manager to join our leadership team. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will drive the people and safety agenda across the business, combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. This role is about shaping and scaling a culture where people want to be here, stay here and grow here, while ensuring we continue to meet the highest standards in HR, health and safety.
The role is based at our Head Office in Norwich (NR6), with standard working hours of Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Some travel to our car parks across the UK will be required to support role related matters.
What you will be doing for us:
People & Culture Strategy
· Develop and deliver people, culture and safety strategies aligned with our business objectives.
· Lead on talent management, workforce planning, succession and leadership development, ensuring we have the right people, skills and culture for growth.
· Provide insight and recommendations on initiatives (e.g. leadership programmes, recognition, wellbeing) that strengthen culture and business results.
· Review and evolve our talent and performance processes so that high performance, engagement and progression are the norm.
Culture, Engagement & Experience
· Lead the design and delivery of culture building initiatives; from charity days and monthly socials to larger events such as an annual conference, creating experiences that connect people and bring our values to life.
· Redesign and oversee the employee induction process, ensuring every new starter has a consistent, high impact introduction to RCP, our values and our ways of working.
· Curate and evolve recognition, wellbeing and inclusion programmes so that employees feel valued, supported and proud to be part of RCP.
· Use data and employee feedback to continuously improve engagement and measure impact.
· Ensure every initiative reinforces our values and strengthens our reputation as a Great Place to Work.
Leadership Support & Coaching
· Partner and coach our management team on people and health & safety matters, enabling confident, values-based decision making.
· Build strong, trusted relationships across the business, able to challenge and influence in a high-performance environment.
· Act as a mediator and coach where needed, resolving issues constructively while safeguarding culture and relationships.
· Equip and upskill line managers to confidently manage day-to-day people matters themselves, creating scalable, consistent practices across the business.
HR Operations & Delivery
· Take accountability for core HR management, recruitment, contracts, reward, policies, grievance and disciplinary, training and development, talent planning, and performance reviews.
· Oversee payroll administration, HR systems and compliance tasks, supported by the HR Administrator, while recognising where future team growth may be required.
· Keep policies, forms and procedures up to date, practical and accessible for employees.
· Stay ahead of employment law and best practice, providing clear interpretation to the wider business.
Health, Safety & Compliance
· Own the company's H&S agenda, including risk assessments, audits and embedding a proactive safety culture across all teams.
· Partner on cross-company projects and change programmes, ensuring people and safety considerations are built into delivery.
Skills and Abilities
Leadership & Delivery
· You'll be as comfortable setting people strategy as you are rolling up your sleeves to deliver it, recognising when to do the work yourself, when to delegate or develop a business case for additional resource.
· Proven track record of leading HR functions and delivering people initiatives to a high standard.
· Ability to originate, influence and lead organisational people strategies, balancing strategic vision with hands on delivery.
· Strong relationship builder, able to coach, challenge and partner with managers at all levels.
Experience & Qualifications
· Minimum five years' HR experience in a HR Manager, HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor role.
· CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent occupational experience).
· IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification (desirable but can be balanced by strong occupational experience).
Technical Knowledge
· Up-to-date knowledge of employment law, HR best practice and payroll processes.
· Good understanding of health & safety legislation and its practical application.
· Demonstrated experience developing compliant HR policies and procedures.
Culture & Engagement
· Knowledge and experience of designing and delivering initiatives that improve employee engagement (e.g. recognition, wellbeing, events).
· Proven ability in talent management, succession planning and leadership development.
· Experience in creating and delivering training programmes tailored to the needs of employees and the business.
