Senior Document Controller role at Balfour Beatty plc, Power T&D team in Derby.
The Senior Document Controller is responsible for establishing governance and assuring data and information flow to and from Balfour Beatty (BIM 360 Docs) and Client common data environments. They will manage the Common Data Environment for several projects, ensuring all project information is available and up to date. They will encourage collaborative working, information exchange, and aid the project team throughout.
What you'll be doing
The Senior Document Controller is responsible for establishing governance and assuring data and information flow to and from Balfour Beatty (BIM 360 Docs) and Client common data environments. They will manage the Common Data Environment for several projects, ensuring all project information is available and up to date. They will encourage collaborative working, information exchange, and aid the project team throughout.
In terms of governance and data flow, the Senior Document Controller ensures smooth data and information flow between Balfour Beatty and client CDEs. They maintain up-to-date project information across multiple projects, fostering collaborative working and information exchange. They provide project-related training, support, and guidance on using BIM 360 to the project engineering team, including subcontractors, the client, and operations.
The Senior Document Controller liaises with the Engineering Manager on BIM 360 project-level quality audit implementation, operation, and record-keeping. They assist the Document Control Manager in providing initial training and ongoing support. They promote the ongoing deployment of BIM 360 on all projects and assist in setting up projects in collaboration with the Information Manager.
As a line manager, the Senior Document Controller supervises and mentors document controllers. They conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. They build and maintain positive relationships with project stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and address issues promptly and effectively. They encourage a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
The role does not involve any design-related duties.
Who we're looking for
The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential
* Background and understanding of a variety of engineering projects and processes.
* Experience working with Document Control/Management.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members, set clear goals, and lead by example. Previous experience in successfully managing a team and handling conflicts.
* Effective communication, excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey expectations and provide feedback. Experience in roles requiring regular communication with diverse stakeholders.
* Problem-Solving and Decision-Making. Ability to quickly identify issues and make informed decisions. Demonstrated experience in managing challenging situations and implementing solutions.
The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable
* Experience using BIM 360 Docs.
* Experience and understanding of site-based operational business processes and practices.
* Knowledge of engineering applications and their data structures.
* Awareness of the Utilities / Power / Construction industry.
* Working knowledge of an Engineering Drawing Office, Design Office and document control processes.
* Working knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) tools, processes and practices.
* Awareness and knowledge of BS1192 / ISO19650.
